Every year, I offer financial support to a handful of folks that would like to utilize acupuncture as part of their preventative health plan but find it financially inaccessible. I do this because the wellness and preventative health industry is set up for the privileged that benefit from our current systemic framework: from the cost of the degree to be a state medical board licensed health professional, to access to insurance that covers preventative and alternative health treatments, to the cost of out of pocket treatments, to access to healthy food options.
